Perugino wins the "Bell'Italia" Prize 2004 Ferrara. The "Bell’Italia 2004” prize was given to the Regione dell’Umbria for the cultural and tourist events created around the Perugino exhibtions. This recognition, initiated by the travel magazine of the same name edited by Giorgio Mondadori, and by the Tourism Stipend for the Cities of Arts known as "Arts and events" 2004, was conferred on the Regione Umbria in a gala ceremony at the Convent of San Francesco in Ferrara.
Until May 16th, the City of Ferrara is hosting the eight edition of the event focalising on the lesser known cities of art with stands in Piazza Duomo which allow a great number of people to obtain information about tourism. There is also a section dedicated to tour operators and other specialists in this sector which allow for exchange of ideas concerning demand and offer in this particular segment of the industry.
The "Bell’Italia” prize, now in its second year, "aims to promote the city or area in Italy which, over the last year, has demonstrated, better than others, how to promote the area through cultural initiatives" stated Maria Chiara Ronchi, director of the event.
The panel of experts decided on Umbria due to the fact that the exhibitions and itineraries dedicated to Perugino have re-evaluated so many minor localities in the region.
The prize has a strong promotional value given that many journalists, guests and over 150 tour operators working in this specialist sector, those who for the most part organize the flow of overseas tourists through the "Italy of the 100 art cities" initiative, were present.
