Perugino continues..will now remain open until September 5thPerugino continues. In Perugia, Città della Pieve, Corciano, Deruta and Torgiano, the incredible series of exhibitions dedicated to the painter Perugino, will now remain open until September 5th, well beyond the original date of July 18th. The decision to extend the exhibition was taken just a few days ago by the official organising committee after many long discussions over the last few weeks as to the availability of these important loans from the museum lenders and after having examined all the precise economic and organisational details.
The decision to extend the exhibition dates was also made on the basis of the numerous requests for advanced group bookings both in Italy and abroad, requests that demonstrate the success of the exhibition, which now has been visited by over 200,000 visitors in only 4 months.
In the case of the City of Perugia, the Organising Committee, having discussed the preliminary details with Arthemisia, evaluated the opportunity of only keeping the exhibition at the Galleria Nazionale open until September 5th with the city attractions still open such as the Collegio del Cambio, Palazzo Baldeschi and San Severo Chapel. With regard to the works at the exhibition “Fortune and Myth” at the Centro Espositivo Rocca Paolina and also those currently on show at the San Pietro Monastery, technical problems, mostly regarding conservation of the works, meant that the majority of lenders could not allow an extension of their loans.
However some important loans, currently on show in the exhibition “La miniatura nell’età di Perugino”; have been agreed, and these will be transferred to the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria so giving the public the opportunity to see these manuscripts and documents alongside the masterpieces on show there.
A press conference will be held in mid July to illustrate the renewed installation. Entry times and ticket prices remain unchanged.
